DK Metcalf throws down dunk in NBA Celebrity Game

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is an exceptional athlete, so it should really come as no surprise to see the NFL superstar kicking off NBA All-Star weekend by swooping his way into the lane and throwing down a dunk for the first points of the 2023 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

After taking a look at the respective lineups for the celebrity showdown that include a nice blend of actors, musicians, a WWE wrestler, and athletes from other sports, Metcalf seems to be by far and away the best candidate to properly set a thunderous tone.

Boy, oh boy, did he do just that.

Look no further than the instant reaction from the overjoyed bench of “Team Dwyane” and more specifically, head coach Dwyane Wade, who simply cannot be having more fun than he already is.

It’s pretty impressive, and awesome, to watch Metcalf so easily fly past the pack of defenders with some monster Giannis-like steps and take the air well before the restricted area in the paint in order to throw it down.

But again, not at all surprising.

Take one look at the above video where Metcalf implores the thrower to launch it high and then try and convince any fan of the Seahawks that head coach Pete Carroll shouldn’t be telling quarterback Geno Smith to simply “throw it really high to DK” every single time the team enters the red zone.

This is really and truly ridiculous athleticism on display here.

Now, is this some kind of elaborate fake to send Twitter into a frenzy? Who knows? And frankly, who cares?

It’s enjoyable stuff and if you’ve ever seen DK Metcalf play football, it is not beyond the scope of reality.

Since it happens to be Michael Jeffrey Jordan’s 60th birthday on Friday, the snapshot above — coupled with the dunk itself — makes for a wonderfully fitting and timely tribute to the greatest NBA player of all time. Sorry, LeBron!
