Following every NFL game in 2025, Steel City Underground parses the best plays from the Pittsburgh Steelers to highlight for Steelers Nation fans to rewatch, complete with what led up to the big play(s).

As many AFC North rivalry games have gone, the meeting in NFL Week 7 in Cincinnati and the Pittsburgh Steelers was another nail-biter. The Steelers led 10-0 in the first half before the Bengals got hot, and in the second half pulled off of a 33-31 victory. The battle for the division has officially become tied to these two teams.

For all the rumors that tight end Pat Freiermuth is being shopped as potential trade bait for another top receiver, Aaron Rodgers made sure Steelers fans saw Freiermuth make a statement by finding him twice for key touchdowns in this game.

With 3:55 left in the 3rd quarter, Freiermuth lined up in the left slot position. Rodgers diagnosed a two-high safety look that gave the big tight end a window in the center of the end zone and threw a strike. The touchdown and converted PAT got the Steelers back into the game, down 17-20.

In the 4th quarter, Rodgers put Pittsburgh in position to win when – with 2:31 remaining on the game clock – he rolled left and had Freiermuth downfield on 2nd & 20. Freiermuth hauled in the catch around the Cincinnati 36 after separating from safety Geno Smith and scored his second touchdown.

In the primetime game, Freiermuth caught 5 passes from Rodgers for 111 yards (a 22.2 yard per catch average) leading all Steelers receivers on the day. The two catches highlighted were the first and second touchdowns of the 2025 NFL regular season for the veteran tight end.

Rodgers finished the game 23-of-34 passing for 249 yards and four touchdowns. Rodgers threw two interceptions, but give credit to D.J. Turner II for stripping D.K. Metcalf as the two fought for control in one of the most surprising takeaways all season. The other INT solely on Rodgers.
