Watch: Jaguars' Josh Allen makes history with sack of Bills' Josh Allen

Jacksonville Jaguars pass rusher Josh Allen made NFL history Sunday by becoming the first player ever to sack a quarterback with the same exact name.

Allen tracked down the Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen for a big sack that ended the Bills' hopes at scoring one more time before the end of the first half.

The Bills' Allen was the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. A year later, the Jaguars selected their Allen with the seventh pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Buffalo's Allen has developed into one of the premier players in the NFL and entered Week 9 with 17 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions. The Jaguars' Allen upped his 2021 total to 5.5 sacks with his Week 9 play.

The Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen matchup Sunday marks the fourth time in NFL history that a quarterback and a defender of the same name faced each other. In 1997, Bills quarterback Todd Collins faced a New England Patriots defense with linebacker Todd Collins. During the 1950 season, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Tommy Thompson twice played against a Cleveland Browns defense with linebacker Tommy Thompson.
