Watch: Jets' Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner signs deal with Buffalo Wild Wings

As Brian Costello noted for the New York Post, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh unveiled not-so-surprising news when he confirmed following Sunday's preseason finale against the New York Giants that rookie cornerback and fourth-overall draft selection Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner will be in the starting lineup when Gang Green opens the regular season versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 11.

Gardner will have something else to celebrate when his birthday arrives on Wednesday.

According to CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, Gardner has put pen to paper on a deal with Buffalo Wild Wings for a new product that's simply known as "Sauce Sauce" which will be available at the restaurant chain beginning on Wednesday.

"Our partnership was meant to be," Gardner explained. "It is natural. I have my sauce, it is a smoky, sweet and spicy barbecue. It has its own personality, just like me. We go hand in hand. I just appreciate them giving me the opportunity to partner with them. I am looking forward to it. I think I am the only person with my own sauce. The fact that it is able to be called 'Sauce Sauce,' it really is my sauce. It is just a blessing, man."

Gardner earned his nickname when he became known for his admiration of dipping sauces as a youth football star. While the first-year pro who turns 22 on the last day of the month is excited to team up with Buffalo Wild Wings, he also left little doubt he's keeping his eyes focused on the task at hand as much as possible.

"I want to be a Pro Bowler, All-Pro," Gardner told Edwards. "I want to win a Super Bowl. I just want to be a phenomenal teammate that leads by example and push the rest of my teammates to be the greatest that they can be."
