New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe has taken the NFL by storm in his role as backup turned starter for Bill Belichick's team.
It's reminiscent of Tom Brady's ascension of the throne in New England. Zappe, like Brady, got his opportunity thanks to an injury to the guy in front of him. In Brady's case, it was Drew Bledsoe. In Zappe's, it was Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer.
Yes, Zappe was New England's third-string quarterback heading into the season.
And now, there's a controversy brewing.
Jones came back for New England's "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Chicago Bears, but after a ho-hum first quarter that saw him throw an interception, Belichick went back to the Zappe well.
Who knows how it will play out long-term, but does Zappe look like a quarterback who will fold under the pressure?
Just take a look at him on the sideline during the game:

Is this the quarterback vying to be the next "one" in Bill Belichick's heart, or is he simply just another fan bopping along to the epic 2003 anthem from Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"?
This kid is unflappable. Not bad for a fourth-round pick. He's no pick No. 199 just yet, but he sure has the swagger.
