Rob Gronkowski was a heck of a tight end when he played. In fact, there's a case to be made that he's one of the best of all time, and he certainly has the Super Bowl rings to prove it.
Gronk also had a bit of a reputation for being a party boy and a little bit of a dumb jock, though. That reputation has followed him into his post-retirement role as an analyst for Fox NFL gamedays, and it won't be helped now that a clip of an incredible prank the crew played on him is making its rounds around the internet.
Gronk, in his first season on the job, was tricked into thinking that the gameday crew was breaking down a fictional Dallas Cowboys tight end named Rich Russo, who, coincidentally, had two missing fingers.
The result of this prank was epic.

Then they had to talk about it and Gronk just made up some stuff.

The best part of the prank was undoubtedly when Gronk was asked about this incredible tight end, Rich Russo, and how he would rank the "fingerless icon" amongst the great tight ends in NFL history.
"Uh, you know, he's been out for a bit so he might be a little rusty coming back," Gronkowski said with a deer-in-the-headlights look in his eyes.
The Fox NFL crew's dedication to this bit was iconic, and a special shout out to Terry Bradshaw, who sold the two-finger news like a seasoned actor.
