On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers led by their second-string quarterback Mitch Trubisky went against the New England Patriots in their week 14 matchup. The Steelers entered the game as a 6-point home favorite but ended up struggling a lot from beginning to end. The Steelers’ offense was so bad that Pittsburgh’s home crowd started a loud Mason Rudolph chant in desperation.
Second-stringer Trubisky took over the starting QB job due to Kenny Pickett’s injury. However, Trubisky’s night did not go according to plan as he struggled a lot, leading the Patriots to take an 18-point lead at one point of the game. There was no energy in the Steelers’ offensive unit which led to their star wide receiver George Pickens expressing frustrations throughout the game.
As fans started to get disappointed in their offensive unit, they started chanting the Steelers’ 3rd-string QB Mason Rudolph’s name. The brief video of the crowd loudly chanting Rudolph’s name went viral on social media and accumulated more than 241k views within just hours of posting. Check out the footage of fans chanting Rudolph’s name attached below.

Nonetheless, Trubisky’s night got a lot better as the game went on, but he still couldn’t outscore the Patriots led by Bailey Zappe. Trubisky completed 22 of his 35 pass attempts for just 190 yards and 1 touchdown while throwing 1 interception.
As a result, the Steelers suffered a massive upset loss against the Patriots and fell to a 7-6 record. This is the second straight week the Steelers have suffered a loss against a poor record opponent and their morale would certainly be down at this point.
Following his poor performance against the Patriots, Mitchell Trubisky addressed the media during the post-game performance and expressed disappointment in his own performance.
I’ve got to play better. I feel like I let the guys down. I’ve got to be better for the guys, for the team. It’s disappointing. Missed opportunities, and I didn’t play good enough for us to win, and that’s how I am feeling right now. Trubisky told reporters

Trubisky also addressed the boos the Steelers received from their home crowd. He said that he understands frustrations since they played like ‘cr*p’ in the first half. Still, he emphasized the point that he has to play better in the future.
As of this moment, Pickett is also expected to miss the Steelers’ week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts. So, Trubisky might get another shot to redeem himself among the Steelers fans.
