The new era of Los Angeles Rams football is set to take off in the 2024 season as the team’s icon Aaron Donald retired in the offseason.

With Donald gone, head coach Sean McVay will be leaning even more on Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp throughout the year though they’ve got a great young core of players on both sides of the field to uplift them. Players like Puka Nacua, Ernest Jones, Kobie Turner and Kyren Williams represent the next wave of Rams leaders and have already proven they can be effective at the professional level.

McVay is still widely regarded as one of the best offensive minds in the game and he showed why during the 2023 season as he pivoted from his pass-heavy offense to a more physical, run-first style. Williams had a breakout year running the football and is poised to do so again after the team revamped the offensive line.

Watching a running back like Williams dominate touches out of the backfield evoked memories of the days when Todd Gurley manned the same role. With training camp up and running, Gurley paid a visit to his old team:

Gurley can be see dapping up Los Angeles mascot Rampage and players as he walks up to the field and appears happy to be back around the Rams whom he played five seasons with. Although his time with the organization didn’t end on the best of terms, he has previously said he holds no ill will toward it and proved it by showing up to a training camp practice.

During his time with the Rams, Gurley was a beloved figure who helped the team get to the Super Bowl though his knee injury robbed him of his prime years. Because he no longer could run the way he used to, Los Angeles decided to waive him though he later ended up with the Atlanta Falcons before retiring.

Regardless of how things ended between the two sides, it appears that Gurley still supports the Rams and it would be fun to see him come to games this upcoming season.

Todd Gurley opens up about departure from Rams

Los Angeles made the difficult decision to waive Todd Gurley despite handing him a four-year extension the year prior. Gurley opened up about his departure from the Rams franchise and revealed that he preferred to be cut than traded.
