Former quarterback Tony Romo offered little sympathy for Joe Burrow as Burrow dealt with a pinkie injury during Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Oh my gosh, we’ve gotten to the point where the pinkie is a huge deal," Romo sarcastically remarked during the CBS broadcast of the matchup, as shared by Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing. "I never thought I’d see the day where the pinkie – you’ve got a cut on your pinkie nail and you’ve got other guys playing through broken ribs."

CBS play-by-play commentator Jim Nantz pointed out any finger injury could impact how a quarterback throws footballs against opposing defenses. Romo clearly wasn't too worried about the setback affecting Burrow against Tampa Bay.

"I had a broken pinkie one time and I was able to throw the ball. So a cut on the pinkie…," Romo reportedly said.

Burrow and the Bengals trailed the Buccaneers 17-0 in the first half but rallied from behind to earn a 34-23 victory that improved Cincinnati to 10-4 on the season. The 26-year-old completed 27-of-39 passes for 200 yards with four touchdowns and an interception at Raymond James Stadium.

Per ESPN stats, Burrow began Monday sixth among qualified quarterbacks with a 102.5 passer rating, eighth with a 59.4 total QBR, fourth with 3,885 passing yards, and second behind only Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs (35) with 31 passing touchdowns this season.

Following Sunday's action, Cincinnati sits atop the AFC North standings ahead of the second-place Baltimore Ravens (9-5), and the Bengals are third in the conference behind the 11-3 Chiefs (second) and 11-3 Buffalo Bills (first).

The Bengals will hope Burrow's pinkie won't be an issue when they next play at the 7-7 New England Patriots on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
