The ‘NFL is scripted’ memes started off as nothing more than an innocent joke. But over time, the meme has gained immense popularity, and owing to the number of netizens who post comments indicating the outcome of the games is pre-determined, some young football fans tend to believe that there is merit to these claims.
Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, recently held his first youth football camp at Levi’s Stadium, where he got the opportunity to meet his young fans, interact with them, and teach them some tricks of the trade. During the meet and greet session, he met a young fan who posed a rather interesting question to him.
Is the NFL scripted? A young fan asked Brock Purdy
Purdy could not help but smile at his question and responded likely.
No, the NFL is not scripted. Good question! Brock Purdy replied
Well, maybe if it were scripted, then the San Francisco 49ers would have gotten their redemption over the Kansas City Chiefs and beat them in the Super Bowl.

A Super Bowl win would have marked a fairytale ending to what was a remarkable season for Purdy and the 49ers. In a year where there was no team as dominant as the 49ers on offense, their quarterback, selected as the last pick of the draft, had a legitimate shot at winning the NFL MVP award. Purdy established that he is franchise QB material.
The chronology of events this season does make fans entertain the possibility that the outcome of the league was pre-determined. Kansas City started off rocky this season, and the team struggled on offense in a season wherein the team was plagued by the lack of depth on its receiving core. There was the side-plot of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, who began dating and hogged the media limelight for most part of the season.
Despite the manner in which things turned out, the Super Bowl is not scripted. Brock Purdy was asked another interesting question by another young fan who asked him if he would rank himself amongst the top 10 quarterbacks in the league.
Purdy put his humility on display as he re-directed the question by merely acknowledging the fact that there are a lot of good quarterbacks in the NFL. He did not rank himself.
