Way-too-early Philadelphia Eagles 2023 NFL Draft preview

The 2023 NFL Draft is April 27-29 in Kansas City. Here is the projected first-round order, per Tankathon.

2022 record: 14-3 | First-round picks: No. 10 and 32 (projected) | Team needs: CB, DL, OL, RB

Snapshot: Thanks to an April 2022 trade by GM Howie Roseman, the Eagles have two first-round picks — their own and the Saints' (No. 10). The Eagles, per OddsChecker, are the NFC favorite for the Super Bowl. Could the rich get richer in the draft?

Potential first-round picks: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia; Paris Johnson, OL, Ohio State; Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama

Ringo is 6-foot-2, weighs 210 pounds and is fast. In 2019, his 4.35 time at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge was the fastest of all college prospects. He missed the 2020 season with a torn labrum, but hasn’t missed a game since. 

In the past two years, Ringo had one sack, a forced fumble and four interceptions. He had a 79-yard pick-six against Alabama in the 2021 CFP championship. Many see Ringo as the top defensive back, if not the most gifted athlete, in the draft.

Coming out of high school, Johnson was the nation’s top-ranked offensive tackle. He’s a 6-foot-6, 310-pound left tackle with experience at interior positions. He was named first-team All-Big Ten this season and consensus All-American.

Johnson started every game at right tackle as a sophomore before switching to left tackle in 2022. With the ability to play the right and left sides, he’d be a perfect fit for a team struggling to replace the injured Lane Johnson.
