Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy has been pretty vocal about his dislike for the tush-push play popularized by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL. In fact, Murphy and his team have proposed a complete for the play, citing safety concerns.
The tush-push play in the NFL is when the quarterback gets the ball and is pushed to the defensive end by the other players. The play has been brought to the NFL from rugby, and the Philadelphia Eagles have popularized it.
While many other teams have tried to replicate it, they have not been as successful as the Eagles. The tush-push play has also been a major success factor for Philadelphia, which is understandable why other teams like the Packers are trying their best to ban it.
“I think it ended up in a good place. We ended up tabling it, but we had a really good discussion, talked a little bit about our safety concerns regarding the play, just kind of the style of the play, but good interaction with the league and so it’ll be tabled and then what we’re going to do is it’ll be voted on in the May meeting.” Mark Murphy said in a recent video shared by the Green Bay Packers.
The Green Bay Packers are definitely desperate to improve their record in the upcoming NFL season. In the previous season, the Green Bay Packers finished third in the NFC North after winning 11 games and losing six. The Packers made it to the Wild Card Round and lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 22-10, and were shown the door in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers are interested in bringing Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe for their 2025 NFL Draft. While the Green Bay Packers do have a talented quarterback, Jordan Love, the player has been plagued by injury troubles.
The team will be eager to bring in someone more energetic and younger in order to bolster Love’s efforts. Jalen Milroe seems to fit Green Bay’s needs and will be soon seen in the upcoming draft.
The 22-year-old quarterback played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2021 to 2024 and has already managed to accumulate a number of accolades. In his last appearance for the Alabama Crimson Tide, quarterback Jalen Milroe managed a total of 2,844 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns along with 11 interceptions.
