Week 15 NFC East predictions: Another big win for 'Big-D'

The Cowboys are on top, the Commanders are at the bottom and the Eagles are in the middle of a losing streak that cost them control of the NFC East.

New York Giants (5-8) at New Orleans Saints (6-7): New Orleans’ defense had four sacks, forced three fumbles, scored a touchdown and held the Panthers to a pair of field goals in Week 14. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young went 13-for-36 for 137 yards against the Saints. But are they ready for New York’s Tommy DeVito?

On "Monday Night Football," the Giants’ UDFA QB threw for 158 yards, ran for 71 and led the Giants to a comeback victory against Green Bay for the team's third straight win. Of course, three turnovers from the defense and a pair of rushing touchdowns from Saquon Barkley didn’t hurt either.

Unfortunately, the Giants 14.1 points per game are still second-lowest in the league. They've won three straight games with DeVito, but the Saints are in a three-way tie for first place in their division. With an NFC South title still up for grabs, look for New Orleans to hand New York their first loss in over a month.

PREDICTION: Saints 24-17

Washington Commanders (4-9) at Los Angeles Rams (6-7): Washington has just two wins in its last 12 games and no hopes of making the playoffs. The Rams were a punt return away from winning their fourth straight game in Baltimore and have a 38.5% chance of making the playoffs according to Fox Sports

The Commanders could struggle to stop the Rams' 10th-ranked offense. Wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua combined for 169 yards against the Ravens and running back Kyren Williams has averaged 125 yards over his last four games. None of this bodes well for a Washington team allowing a league-high 30.4 points per game while scoring 20.1 points per game.

Most forget that L.A. head coach Sean McVay spent seven years as an assistant in Washington before taking the Rams job. He’s 1-1 against his old team but should have no problem getting win No. 2 at home.

PREDICTION: Rams 27-21

Dallas Cowboys (10-3) at Buffalo Bills (7-6): Dallas avenged their Week 9 loss to Philadelphia with a 33-13 victory over the Eagles on Sunday. The NFL’s top-scoring offense is averaging 32.4 points per game and 38.8 points since their bye week.

Thanks to Kadarius Toney’s late-game gaffe on Sunday, the Bills are back above .500 and still alive for the playoffs. They should enjoy the moment because they won’t be so lucky when Dallas comes to town.

The Bills have played better since moving on from offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey in November, but struggled against the Chiefs stout defense last week. The Cowboys defense is just as good, if not better than the Chiefs’ unit, allowing 0.4 more points per game while allowing 10 fewer yards than Kansas City.

With Bills quarterback Josh Allen tied for the league lead with 14 interceptions, look for an opportunistic Cowboys secondary to take advantage and put the game away by the third quarter.

PREDICTION: Cowboys 31-17

Philadelphia Eagles (10-3) at Seattle Seahawks (6-7): Consecutive losses against NFC rivals have Philadelphia desperate for a win. At 10-3, the Eagles are in no danger of missing the postseason, but 6-7 Seattle is a longshot to make the playoffs.

Philadelphia has been outscored 75-32 in its last two games. The Eagles' 10-3 record is somewhat amazing considering they’re scoring just 1.6 more points per game than they allow. They’ll have to do better if they hope to end their two-game losing streak and change their fortunes in Seattle.

The Eagles have an all-time record of 7-12 against the Seahawks and haven’t beaten them since 2008. Their last meeting came in the 2020 NFC Wild Card game.

With safety Reed Blankenship in the league’s concussion protocol, the Eagles pass defense is in shambles and hardly seems ready to defend receivers like DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Assuming Seattle quarterback Geno Smith recovers from his groin injury and gets them the ball, the Seahawks win a close one.

PREDICTION: Seahawks 30-28
