Undrafted in most fantasy leagues, these NFL wide receivers are suddenly relevant after strong Week 1 performances and should be among the first pass-catchers taken off the Week 2 waiver wire.

As expected, new addition DK Metcalf led the Pittsburgh Steelers with four catches for 83 yards on Sunday, but Austin wasn’t far behind with four receptions for 70 yards and a score, the last of four touchdowns thrown by new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the team’s 34-32 victory against the New York Jets.

At 5-foot-9 and 162 pounds, Austin may be one of the league’s smallest players, but he stayed on the field for 43 of Pittsburgh’s 53 offensive snaps after appearing in just 53 percent of the team’s plays in 2024.
Austin’s 17 fantasy points ranked 16th among wide receivers in Week 1, and he’ll be worth a look as long as he has Rodger’s trust.
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown could get top billing
Brown took advantage of an injury to teammate Xavier Worthy by leading the Kansas City Chiefs with 10 catches for 99 yards in the team’s’ six-point loss to the L.A. Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday night, finishing with 19.90 fantasy points.
Already down a receiver with Rashee Rice suspended for the first six games of the season for his involvement in a high-speed, multi-vehicle crash in March, Worthy’s dislocated shoulder is bad news for Kansas City but great news for Brown owners.
Worthy hopes to keep playing while wearing a brace, but Brown could emerge as the team’s No. 1 receiver until Rice returns.
Quentin Johnston keeps getting better
Keenan Allen (seven) and Ladd McConkey (six) had more catches than Johnston (five) on Friday night but the third-year receiver led L.A. with 79 yards and two touchdowns, the second two-score game of his career. His 24.90 fantasy points were third-most for a wide receiver in Week 1.

A first-round pick in 2023, Johnston had just two touchdowns as a rookie but led Chargers receivers with eight scores in 2024. Available in 92 percent of leagues, Johnston could be in for another big day when the Chargers travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.
Cedrick Tillman outshines Cincinnati Bengals star receivers
Ja’Marr Chase led all wide receivers with 1,708 yards and 403.00 fantasy points in 2024 but caught just two of five targets for 26 yards against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, while teammate Tee Higgins had three receptions for 33 yards.
Meanwhile, Tillman caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown against Cincinnati, making him the only wide receiver to find the end zone in the Browns’ 17-16 loss to the Bengals.
A third-round pick in 2023, Tillman had three touchdowns in his last four games before a Grade 3 concussion forced him to miss the team’s last six games of 2024. Sunday’s effort earned him 16.20 fantasy points. Rostered in only 28 percent of leagues, he could find success against a Baltimore team that allowed 394 yards to Bills receivers in Sunday night’s 41-40 loss in Buffalo.
