Week 7 NFL players to watch: Lions rookie RB should finally sizzle

Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season is underway. Here are the must-see players on Sunday:

SUNDAY'S POST-GAME HEADLINE TODAY | Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs breaks out vs. Ravens

Against the Ravens (4-2), the Lions (5-1) will be without RB David Montgomery, their touchdown leader (six). Head coach Dan Campbell said the veteran running back is expected to be out for "a little bit" due to a rib cartilage injury. That means it's finally time for rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs' first start. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has shown flashes (4.6 YPG on 39 carries) but hasn't had the opportunity to put his talent on full display. He'll do exactly that against Baltimore's stout run defense, which has allowed 97.7 rushing yards per game.

SUNDAY'S POST-GAME HEADLINE TODAY | Bills WR Stefon Diggs continues tear against Patriots

Bills WR Stefon Diggs has been on a tear, posting at least 100 receiving yards in every game but one this season. He should easily reach 100 against the Patriots (1-5), who have struggled mightily in all phases. Diggs has 45 catches for 618 yards and six touchdowns in his career vs. Buffalo's division rival, which is allowing 202.7 passing yards per game (12th best in the NFL). The Bills are 4-2.

SUNDAY'S POST-GAME HEADLINE TODAY | Steelers T.J. Watt becomes first player to reach 10+ sacks for 2023

The 29-year-old leads the league with eight sacks and has two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a touchdown. Against the Rams (3-3), the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year will continue building on his campaign for his second DPOY. Per StatMuse, Rams QB Matthew Stafford is fifth in passing attempts, so Watt — who's battling a heel injury — should have plenty of opportunities to become the first player to reach 10+ sacks for the Steelers (3-2).  

SUNDAY'S POST-GAME HEADLINE TODAY | Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa outduels Jalen Hurts in Game of the Week

The Dolphins (5-1) and Eagles (5-1) boast the NFL's top two offenses in total yards per game, setting up "Sunday Night Football" as the Game of the Week and potentially a Super Bowl preview. Miami's offense is still in a league of its own with QB Tua Tagovailoa leading the league in passing yards (1,876) and passing touchdowns (14). Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, meanwhile, has thrown for 1,542 yards and seven touchdowns. He should keep things close before Philadelphia's ruthless home crowd, but the Dolphins — a two-point underdog on Friday, per OddsChecker — should prevail.
