Joe Burrow spoke to the local media for the first time since the end of the 2024 season on Tuesday and chimed in on the talk of the town: Trey Hendrickson's contract saga.
Burrow noted Hendrickson is doing what's best for his career as the team misses its top pass rusher.
"We'll see what happens with that," Burrow said about the contract situation "You guys all know how I feel about Trey—he's a great player. I love Trey as a guy. He goes out and plays well every single Sunday. He's very productive. He's a guy that deserves to get paid and get paid what he wants and what the market is."
Reports have come out in the past week that the Bengals have offered Hendrickson a deal worth $28 million per season, but it hasn't gotten things over the finish line in May.
Meanwhile, Burrow and the rest of the team are getting on-field work in to sharpen up ahead of the season. He's kept up contact with Hendrickson throughout the process.
"Early in the offseason, quite a bit," Burrow said about his contact with Hendrickson. "Lately, not quite as much. He was here last week, obviously, as you guys know, that was an exciting day. It was great to see him. he came in and brought good energy. He's happy to see everybody. And like I said, I love Trey. I love seeing Trey. He's one of the most unique people I've ever been around or met, and I love that about him, and I think that's what makes him a great player. So he brings a unique energy that I'm always excited to see."
