What Joe Burrow's contract extension could look like

The Eagles gave QB Jalen Hurts a five-year, $255 million contract extension on Monday, and although nothing seems imminent for Bengals QB Joe Burrow, here is what his big payday could look like.

Pro Football Focus' Brad Spielberger believes Burrow could get a shorter deal at four years, $214 million ($53.5 million per year average) with $185 million guaranteed. Hurts now has a $51 million per year average with about $179 million guaranteed.

However, others predict Burrow could even receive between $55 million and $60 million per year, which would easily surpass Hurts' record as the league's highest-paid quarterback.

Burrow has led Cincinnati to two straight AFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance, so he's certainly deserving of a large contract extension.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport said back in January that his guess when talking about a quarterback resetting the market is "Burrow is that guy."

"Honestly, two or three year benefits the player," Rapoport added. "I would expect a more traditional quarterback structure."

It would be surprising if Burrow's new deal isn't at least four years, so he could be looking at a four-year deal worth up to $240 million.

Not a bad payday for one of the league's best quarterbacks who's still only 26.
