What LB Tarell Basham brings to Bengals

The Bengals signed LB Tarell Basham to a one-year deal last week but what exactly does he bring to Cincinnati?

Basham, a third-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft, brings experience above anything else. He has been quite the journeyman in his seven-year career. The Bengals will be his fifth team since entering the league.

The 29-year-old only played in five games and tallied just one tackle in 2022 with the Titans. However, Basham does have 128 tackles, 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception in his 79 games played.

However, Cincinnati didn't add Basham to its roster with the thought that he will play a large percentage of the defensive snaps, but the veteran will certainly be a solid depth piece for the team at a cheap price.

Basham is also returning to the state where he played collegiately. During his four years at Ohio University, he posted what would be a better stat line than his NFL career, totaling 152 tackles, 27 sacks and five forced fumbles.

Maybe playing in the state that started it all will fuel him to have a bounce-back season in 2023 and potentially cement his role on the Bengals for years to come.
