A report surfaced ahead of this past weekend claiming that the Las Vegas Raiders and star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby are prepared to continue their working relationship after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their agreement to send two first-round draft picks to the Raiders for Crosby because of a failed physical.
For an article published on Monday, NFL insider Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom US suggested that Crosby will be staying with the Raiders for the foreseeable future.
"League sources maintained that several clubs monitored the availability of Crosby in the direct aftermath of the trade agreement crumbling, and did not sense a truly motivated seller," La Canfora wrote about the Raiders.
Crosby reportedly requested a trade after he was shut down by the Raiders for the remainder of the 2025 season against his wishes because of a lingering knee injury in late December. He ultimately needed a meniscus repair, and it appears that concerns related to his knee will keep teams from matching the Raiders' asking price for his services through the spring and summer months.
Last week, Crosby indicated via a social-media post that he will stay with the franchise that drafted him in 2019. He and the Raiders agreed to a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason.
"My gut, I think he’s a Raider," one unnamed general manager told La Canfora about Crosby.
Crosby reportedly will be cleared for football-related activities in "June or early July." While a different general manager told La Canfora that his club wasn't willing to give up a pair of first-round picks for Crosby at this point in the 28-year-old's career, the executive hinted that he believes the defensive star will have a chip on his shoulder come September.
"He’s going to kick a— for you," the GM said about Crosby. "This guy never wants to come off the field, and he’s more motivated now than ever."
Meanwhile, a longtime personnel executive predicted that Crosby "is going to have a monster season" after basically being rejected by the Ravens. One wonders if Baltimore will come to regret not going through with the Crosby trade this month.
