Baltimore Ravens players, such as quarterback Lamar Jackson, have routinely defended star tight end Mark Andrews throughout the offseason regarding the two costly mistakes Andrews made during Baltimore's 27-25 divisional-round playoff loss at the Buffalo Bills this past January.
During a recent chat with Scott Thompson of Fox News Digital, Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely revealed what he told Andrews shortly after Baltimore was eliminated from this year's postseason tournament.
"He’s made plenty of plays while being in the league, so I just tell him even after the two-point conversation: 'Be you. Never forget who you are. Never forget what you did in the league already. … One play is never going to define who you are and what you have done to this point,'" Likely said about that conversation with Andrews.
Andrews lost a fumble in the fourth quarter of the Buffalo contest and then dropped a pass on what would have been a game-tying two-point conversion with fewer than two minutes remaining in regulation. That defeat dropped Jackson, a two-time regular-season Most Valuable Player Award winner, to 3-5 for his career as a postseason starter.
"He’s All-Pro Mark for a reason," Likely said about Andrews bouncing back from those miscues. "Mark makes plays where you look on the sidelines, you're watching on TV like, 'D---, that’s Mandrews.' So I'll never make it seem like it’s bigger than what it is. Everybody is human. I have had plenty of drops while being in the league."
Likely and others within the Ravens probably spent portions of the offseason wondering what could have been for reasons that go beyond just the two previously mentioned plays. For example, Jackson tossed an avoidable first-quarter interception against Buffalo and then committed a fumble that resulted in the Bills scoring a touchdown during the second quarter.
"I feel like we get a little jittery because we want it so bad," Likely admitted about the errors committed by Baltimore players at Highmark Stadium. "Everybody wants to win the Super Bowl so bad."
Likely added that he and the Ravens intend to "never get away from our game plan" and "never get away from our standpoint" coming off the club's latest playoff heartbreak.
As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Ravens, Bills and Philadelphia Eagles tied as the betting favorites at +650 odds to win Super Bowl LX in February 2026.
Andrews and Likely are both set to be out of contract following the upcoming campaign, so the 2025 season could be somewhat of a "Last Dance" for the current Baltimore roster.
