It is no secret that when the Dallas Cowboys traded for George Pickens, the floor for the offense was raised substantially.
Granted, there were some who were hesitant about the move due to George's fiery personality that might derail the entire thing, but through the offseason and one week of training camp, Pickens is nothing like he's been portrayed as.
Brian Schottenheimer has said it, so too CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, with Pickens fitting in seamlessly into what the Cowboys are doing both on and off the field.
But as far as what Lamb and Pickens can be on the field and what they can do for each other? Dak is excited to see it play out.
“It's going to be hard for defenses to double cover CeeDee when you got a guy like George and he's making the plays,” Prescott said. “Then especially when we attack back with Ferg and put the whole offense together. That's a guy who CeeDee, matured and understand the game more, who understands when he needs to be open.
"Super talented guy, and George helps him, and the rest of the offense helps him. So, it's about us just continuing to make plays when the ball doesn't go to CeeDee that therefore some pressure can get off of him and he can do his thing when it comes his way."
How the offense meshes together will be a fascinating watch, with Lamb and Pickens able to stress a defense simply by being on the field at the same time. Both are No. 1 receivers and command a lot of attention, but coordinators won't be able to focus on one; they must account for both.
Then as Dak says, we throw in Jake Ferguson, who is now back fully healthy and making plays in camp. Plus, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert, and Jonathan Mingo, along with a revamped run game, oh, there's weapons.
But Lamb and Pickens will command all of the attention and rightly so, but knowing you have to curb their influence and actually doing it are two different things.
Lamb couldn't be taken away last season, even with a banged-up shoulder, so imagine what he could do with Pickens helping dictate coverage.
Yeah, that's nightmare fuel, my friends.
