FRISCO — Another year has passed and ended in disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys. They followed an embarrassing NFC Wild Card exit a year ago with a campaign riddled with drama and injury that left them 7-10 after 18 weeks.
Now 30 years removed from a Super Bowl and yearning for a return to the summit of the NFL mountain, there are a few bright sides to hope for heading into 2025.
The Cowboys have signed Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to multi-year extensions, locking down their offensive core for the near future. On the other side of the ball, they have yet to officially ink such a deal with defensive star Micah Parsons.
However, he has vehemently expressed his commitment to the franchise and wants to pursue a championship with the team. Going further, his bold prediction for the 2025 season has the Cowboys returning to the Super Bowl and winning the sport's most coveted prize.
“It’s gonna be an amazing, amazing, amazing thing to see next year when we are holding the trophy... we’re gonna be holding a trophy up next year, point blank, period,” said Micah in an incredible announcement.
Parsons has become notorious for firing off hot takes when it comes to most topics around the NFL. But matched with an admitted stubbornness at times is a profound belief in his abilities and those of his Cowboys.
Many wanted Dallas to punt on 2024 when Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending injury. Instead, Parsons spearheaded a rally of four wins in a five-game stretch in the second half of the season.
Is that goal achievable with this roster at present? Likely not. The Cowboys dropped to third in the NFC East this season and will likely have to replace key contributors at several spots in the offseason.
Those needs come in conjunction with their desperation for an influx of young talent and the most pressing agenda item of solidifying Mike McCarthy or someone else as the head coach moving forward.
With all those things in mind, Parsons has already set an extremely high standard for the 2025 season and gambling on a bold take that is set for ridicule if they come up short once again.
