What’s The Truth Behind Patrick Mahomes Pro Bowl Snub?

Looking at the entirety of his season though, Mahomes' resume does not scream Pro Bowl worthy. His completion percentage is at a career high, but his other totals will finish as regressions from recent seasons. 

Mahomes will not reach 4,000 passing yards for the first time in his career as a starter and his 26 passing touchdowns are tied for a career low. Altogether his stats are not bad, but not dazzling audiences the same way they have for the better part of a decade. 

However, one thing that cannot be argued is that Mahomes has led the Chiefs to the most wins in franchise history and has them positioned again to control their destiny to another Super Bowl appearance. 

In the totality of Mahomes' snub and the Chiefs' success lies a sweet frank truth about the quarterback and his franchise. Kansas City has built themselves into a winner not just reliant on one player's heroics to be successful. 

The Chiefs are a juggernaut to be dealt with offensively and defensively. Mahomes may have not earned a Pro Bowl spot, but five of his teammates including Travis Kelce earned immediate selection. 

That is not a new theme for a group coming off two straight Super Bowl victories, but serves a strong reminder that Kansas City remains a force even with Mahomes on an arguably down season by his high standards. 

While that Mahomes and the Chiefs may already understand that identity, it is a sobering reality that any hopeful contender must face at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Playoffs.
