When Will the Jets Make the Playoffs Again?

It’s always the same old story with the New York Jets every single season. After back-to-back losing seasons, it feels like nothing ever gets better. Every offseason we hear about new players added to the roster and “culture changing” coaches using the same old lines about doing whatever it takes to make the team successful. But actions speak louder than words.  The Jets need some kind of magical pill to get back on their feet, and who knows when that miracle, otherwise know as a quarterback, is finally going to arrive.

It feels like time is running out for this franchise, and the playoffs seem farther and farther away. When will the Jets get back there again? Well, anything is possible in life, even in sports. We’ve seen NFL teams start from nothing and turn things around completely. If other teams can change and improve, then the Jets can do it too. It takes time to build a roster and a coaching staff. Patience is needed to get back on your feet. Money matters too, but it has to be spent on the right talent. Things won’t change overnight.

The last time the Jets made the playoffs was in 2010. They went 11–5, won the AFC East, won the wild card round, won the divisional round, and reached the AFC Championship Game before coming up short against the Steelers. That team was one win away from the Super Bowl and possibly a championship. It was one of the best seasons Jets fans can remember, and we still don’t know when we’ll ever see something like that again.

Now, fifteen years later, it feels like the Jets are back to square one. They have a first-year rookie head coach, a new starting quarterback, and a bunch of new draft picks and free-agent signings. Starting over again isn’t easy. With the Jets, you never really know if the new faces will make a difference. It’s been the same story for so many seasons now, and nothing seems to improve. The Jets need to take a trip down memory lane. Something from that 2010 run worked, and whatever it was needs to be brought back. This team needs fixing, and it needs fixing now.

Nobody knows what the future holds for this franchise or when the playoffs will be realistic again. It won’t be this season, and maybe not for a while. The Jets have a lot to sort out and plenty to improve before the playoffs are even part of the conversation. The road ahead is long, and taking things one step at a time is the best approach for them right now.
