It's an ugly time to be a New York football fan.
Both the New York Jets and the New York Giants are among the league's worst teams with their own brand of terrible football being a central talking point around the region.
For the Giants, the release of quarterback Daniel Jones has shaken the now 2-9 locker room hard. The G-Men are closer to achieving the goal of securing a top overall pick in the hopes of drafting a quarterback who can save them. Along the way, questionable decisions from head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen have led to questions about whether a full organization shuffle is coming.
While the Giants have collapsed inward on themselves, the Jets would not let them take all the credit for being a dysfunctional mess.
New York has now fired head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. Multiple reports have come out that quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be in his final weeks with the team shortly. At 3-8, Gang Green is closer to the top overall pick than they are to a playoff spot.
So which team is worse? The lowly Giants or the disappointing Jets?
In reality, the answer is that they are both equally disappointing. Big Blue's entire organization structure was predicted off a playoff berth in 2022. They were finally on the right path or so it seemed.
The Jets made plenty of shrewd draft selections and a massive trade to bring a Hall-of-Fame quarterback into the fold to end their 14-year playoff drought.
In the end, neither team got what they wanted, and neither team appeared to know what to do to fix it.
Things aren't well for the New York football teams. And it's embarrassing for both fanbases to be in this spot.
