Who does Patrick Mahomes think is the most underrated QB in the NFL?

The Netflix documentary "Quarterbacks" has already given NFL fans an inside look at what it takes to play the sport's most demanding position. However, it's also offered us a glimpse into what those same quarterbacks think of their peers.

In an interview with all three featured quarterbacks, Kirk Cousins, Marcus Mariota and Patrick Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, had an interesting answer to, "Who is the most underrated quarterback in the NFL?"

"I think it's this guy right here," Mahomes said, pointing to Cousins. "I mean, if you look at Kirk over here man, wins every year, puts up great stats. Did it in Washington, does it in Minnesota. Talk to any quarterback in the league, they're gonna say the same thing."

Mariota agreed, saying Cousins, entering his 12th season, is still proving why he's one of the "top" QBs in the league.

Unsurprisingly, Cousins reacted positively to the love fest directed his way.

"Anytime you can be complimented by your peers, it beats any compliment coming from anybody else in your life. So that means a lot," Cousins said.

Some might not agree with Mahomes and Mariota's choice, but Cousins' numbers helped back them up. Cousins is sixth among active quarterbacks in touchdowns (252) and eighth in completions (3,249) and passing yards (37,140). And while the 34-year-old has a reputation for coming up small in big spots, he has 28 game-winning drives under his belt, also eighth among active QBs.

Cousins isn't without his flaws, as last year's abysmal playoff ending proves. However, he has a chance at redemption in 2023, taking the field for what could be his final season in purple and gold.
