Who Will The New York Giants Fire Next?

New York’s highest-scoring output this season is 29 points, and it came in Week 2.

Since then, they regressed by failing to reach the 20-point milestone over the last five weeks.

Their fate is highly frustrating because the Giants got some of their starters back like Saquon Barkley, Kadarius Toney, and Kenny Golladay.

With Garrett gone, Freddie Kitchens will take over the play-calling duties.

However, it’s still uncertain if this change will have a positive impact on the team.

But it feels like Garrett’s firing is the first of a series of layoffs that team chairman John Mara will initiate to uplift the team’s fortunes.

Joe Judge Isn’t Safe

Giants head coach Joe Judge isn’t safe from the purge because he’s still the person with the final say in all the team’s decisions.

Therefore, there’s a big possibility that he might be gone as well after this season.

Perhaps the Giants front office would want him to finish their campaign to see if he can spark a turnaround.

Judge is saying the right things during press conferences, but he cannot translate his wisdom from the podium to the field.

The team expected him to have a better record in 2021 than their 6-10 slate last season.

Sadly, it looks like the Giants will have fewer wins than in 2020, which won’t help keep his job.

His only saving grace is if he leads the Giants to a winning record through their last seven games.

Such results might help his bosses reconsider his employment and give him another try next season.

Otherwise, the 2021 NFL season might be his last with the Giants.

Pat Shurmur also got two years before Judge, and he may follow suit if the team continues to look lethargic.

Time For Dave Gettleman To Go

Giants General Manager Dave Gettleman joined the team in 2018 when Eli Manning was about to wrap up his successful career.

Despite that possibility, he lacked foresight and selected Barkley with the second overall pick instead.

There’s nothing wrong with drafting the former Penn State standout because he dominated in college.

Unfortunately, drafting a running back early poses some risks.

Likewise, some intriguing play-callers like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were still available.

At first, Barkley proved that he was the right choice.

But injuries derailed his march to become the league’s best running back.

Even if he can still play, Barkley isn’t the same talented player anymore.

Gettleman also failed to build a solid offensive line through four seasons, and Andrew Thomas was the only pick that he got right.

Talent evaluation is critical in building a team, and the Giants have lacked that necessity during Gettleman’s tenure.

Therefore, the timing is right for him to leave, together with Garrett and Judge.
