Contract negotiations between Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers are seemingly getting more tense as time drags along.
In the most recent update in this ongoing saga, Aiyuk posted a cryptic TikTok, where he is shown to be facetiming Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, saying, “They said they don’t want me back.”
Many are speculating that Aiyuk is alluding to the idea that his time as a Niner may be ending.

With this possibility being the case, many are speculating about potential landing spots emerging such as the Cardinals, Chargers, Commanders, Patriots and Steelers as reported by Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports.

Of these potential suitors, the Commanders, who are trying to rid themselves of the atrocious track record that the Dan Snyder era has imparted upon them, should do all they can to bring Aiyuk to the nation’s capital.
Acquiring Aiyuk would send a message to the league that the Commanders are serious about turning things around. Along with that, it would ease some of the burden of those within the organization.
Here are a three Commanders who will benefit the most from adding Aiyuk.
Terry McLaurin
There are numerous reasons why bringing Aiyuk to the Commanders would greatly benefit the organization. For starters, pairing Aiyuk alongside McLaurin would give Washington a formidable receiver duo. McLaurin has been a 1,000-yard receiver in four of his five NFL seasons, falling 81 yards short of the mark in his rookie year. Aiyuk, who ranked seventh in receiving yards with 1,342, last season, would easily be the most talented receiver McLaurin has played with.
The two, paired with pass-catching back Austin Ekeler, will force defenses to be honest and create ample opportunities for each other to make plays.
Jayden Daniels
Aiyuk’s history with Daniels helps Washington’s case as well. The two played together at Arizona State in 2019, where Aiyuk accounted for eight of Daniels’ 17 passing touchdowns. The connection these two share appears to go beyond the field as Daniels is the one that Aiyuk was on the phone with during the TikTok. Having a familiar face could help Daniels gain his footing quickly as he eases into his professional career.
Reuniting college quarterbacks and receivers has been a common trend around the NFL in recent years, with pairings such as Joe Burrow and Ja’marr Chase, Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith and Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle working out well.
Kliff Kingsbury
Last season, the Commanders ranked 18th in total passing yards and 24th in total yards per game. Kingsbury will have his work cut out for him in his inaugural season as offensive coordinator. Historically, he has enjoyed utilizing an Air Raid offense, and adding a guy such as Aiyuk, who is coming off his best year as a professional, will give Washington an immediate boost off the bat.
Securing him long-term could provide the team with an offensive foundation to build upon as the team hopes to establish a winning brand of football.
