Why Alabama football’s running backs are taking blame for lack of production

Alabama football’s running backs are accepting responsibility for the Crimson Tide’s lack of run production as of late.

The Tide continues to look for answers in the run game with the end of the regular season on the horizon. Alabama’s starting running back Jam Miller feels the Tide’s offensive line is opening up opportunities for him and his fellow backs, and it is up to them to take advantage.

“Our O-Line got way better, like what I said, running backs, we take the blame for it,” Millers said. “We need to do better at pass protection, just hitting the holes right, reading the O-Line and just getting what we could get.”

Daniel Hill led all of Alabama football’s running backs with 60 yards on 15 carries against Oklahoma. Miller chipped in 27 yards on nine carries. While these numbers are not head-turning, they are considered to be an improvement in comparison to how Alabama has played as of late.

The Tide’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb feels the Tide’s running backs have not hit open holes as consistently as they need to, and this is something Miller and Alabama’s running backs are putting in work to fix.

“We come in Sunday, watch game film, see our mistakes, and then throughout the week, we just work on it, practice it and just continue to get better,” Miller told reporters.

If Alabama wants to make a run at a National Championship, a dependable run game will likely have to be in the Crimson Tide’s repertoire.
