Why Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wants credit for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship

The Kansas City Chiefs are undoubtedly one of the most popular teams in the NFL. It helps when you have the league’s best QB, two Super Bowl victories in a row, and a star player dating the most famous woman in the world. Patrick Mahomes wants some credit for the Travis Kelce + Taylor Swift relationship, and he may have helped them kick things off.

On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Mahomes spoke on the part he played during the beginning of Taylor and Travis’s relationship.

“It’s been a fun run, I’d like to take some of the credit,” Mahomes said. “I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert with the friendship bracelet. He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker.”

According to Mahomes, he is the one who urged Travis to pursue Taylor.

“I’ve had some input there as well,” Mahomes said. “I was like dude, you should just go for it, just go for it. And you know Travis man, he does it, and he’s a great dude and I’m glad that it’s all worked out for the best.”

Pat McAfee joked that Mahomes could become both the greatest football player of all time and the greatest matchmaker of all time. Pairing Travis and Taylor is a pretty good resume as a matchmaker.

It seems that the whole NFL has Patrick Mahomes to thank for all the revenue and attention that’s been created thanks to the Travis Kelce + Taylor Swift relationship. The increased viewership and attention for the NFL has probably made more for the league than the Chiefs dynasty run.

Is there anything that Mahomes can’t do?

Travis Kelce reveals his favorite Taylor Swift era, songs

Swifties have embraced Kelce and want to know everything about him. In a handful of recent interviews, Kelce has been asked about his favorite Swift songs and albums.

When asked about his favorite Swift album by Access Hollywood, Kelce initially answered 1989. He then changed his answer to The Tortured Poets Department, which released during their relationship.

Based on his favorite albums, it should be no surprise which songs are his favorites. Kelce ranked his top three Swift songs. In the below clip, he names “Blank Space” from 1989 as well as two new hits from The Tortured Poets Department — The Alchemy and So High School.

Mahomes, Reid, Goodell respond to Harrison Butker’s controversial comments

Harrison Butker’s controversial comments from last week have finally drawn a response from some of the most influential figures in the NFL.

Mahomes made an effort to separate Butker’s professionalism and personal character from his controversial opinions.

“I’ve known him for seven years. I judge him by the character he shows every day and that’s a good person,” Patrick Mahomes stated, per The Athletic’s Nate Taylor. “We’re not always going to agree. He said certain things I don’t agree with.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid weighed in with a tolerant response for his player. Reid pointed out that the NFL is a “microcosm” where various viewpoints coexist.

“I didn’t think I need to. We’re a microcosm of life. … We all respect each other’s opinions. We all have a voice,” Reid said.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also weighed in on Butker’s comments.

“We have over 3,000 players. We have executives around the league. They have diversity of opinions and thoughts just like America does. That’s something we treasure,” Goodell said, per Tom Pelissero.

These comments came after a formal statement from the NFL. In the statement, NFL senior vice president and chiefs diversity and inclusion officer Jonathan Beane said that Butker’s views “are not those of the NFL as an organization.” Beane also added that the league “is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion.”
