Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen doesn't seem to be growing complacent after winning the 2024 NFL MVP award.
Allen, 29, has yet to win a Super Bowl in seven seasons with the Bills. In a story published by Sports Illustrated's Liam McKeone on Tuesday, he said that's fueling him after a career year.
"I don't play too much into [winning MVP]," Allen said. "You know it's such a great honor, and I do appreciate being honored for my work. But at the same time, I still didn't win a Super Bowl. Didn't win a ring and that is the only goal. It's the only focus I've ever had going into this league."
In 2024, the Bills went 13-4 during the regular season, winning their fifth consecutive AFC East title. However, they lost 32-29 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
The Chiefs continue to be the Bills' biggest postseason roadblock. Buffalo has lost its past four playoff games to Kansas City, including last season's AFC title game. Three of these losses were by six points or less.
Allen should get another crack at Kansas City if he keeps playing at an MVP level next season.
"The one positive, I will say, about winning an MVP means that your team is in good position," Allen said. "You're making the playoffs, you're playing well and doing whatever you can to help your team win football games."
On an episode of the "Check The Mic" podcast on June 12, The 33rd Team's Sam Monson said Allen has surpassed Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes as the league's top passer.
Mahomes has won three Super Bowls in eight seasons with the Chiefs, but Allen has produced better numbers over the past two seasons. During this span, the Bills star has tossed 57 touchdown passes and posted an outstanding 73.5 QBR. The Chiefs star, meanwhile, has thrown 53 TD passes and logged a solid 65.4 QBR.
If Allen gets over the hump in the playoffs, that would strengthen his case as, perhaps, the league's best QB.
