The New York Jets are in the midst of their first season under head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. Entering Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they were 0-2 with losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers (34-32) and the Buffalo Bills (30-10).

The Jets will try to avoid an 0-3 start without their starting quarterback, Justin Fields, who left the game against the Bills with 12:03 remaining in the fourth quarter after suffering a concussion. Fields finished 3-of-11 passing for 27 yards.

The 26-year-old signed with New York this past offseason after previously spending three seasons with the Chicago Bears and 2024 with the Steelers. The former Ohio State Buckeye was drafted No. 11 overall in the 2021 NFL draft.

When Will Justin Fields Return to Action?

Fields missed Wednesday’s practice and was ruled out for Sunday’s game that same day. He also sat out Thursday and Friday.

His return timetable is uncertain, though concussions typically sideline players one to two games. Fields must clear the concussion protocol and get practice reps next week to have a chance to face the Miami Dolphins on "Monday Night Football," giving him an extra day of recovery.

In the meantime, backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor will get the start against Tampa Bay.
