Why Packers can add to Pro Bowl's laughing stock in Week 18

The Pro Bowl has, quite honestly, become a popularity contest among voters. The 2024 rosters prove exactly that, which is why the Packers can prove why it should be taken less seriously every year in the final week of the regular season.

Four teams have zero Pro Bowl selections this season, including the 2-14 Carolina Panthers, 4-12 New England Patriots and 4-12 Washington Commanders. But it's the 8-8 Green Bay Packers that are the most shocking on the list.

Green Bay still has a chance to make the playoffs as it currently sits as the No. 7 seed in the NFC and there are several scenarios for it to end up as the No. 6 or 7 seed by the end of Week 18.

The Packers are in a transition year after trading QB Aaron Rodgers to the Jets last offseason, but they don't deserve to have zero players named Pro Bowlers.

The most notable name missing from the list is QB Jordan Love, who impressed in his first full year as the starter. The 25-year-old passed for 3,843 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also added 248 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

However, Love was omitted from the NFC's Pro Bowl roster for Rams QB Matthew Stafford. Not to say Stafford hasn't had a good year as well, but he has 10 fewer touchdowns than Love on the season and isn't playing this week.

If Love can further build upon his 2023 stat line while leading Green Bay into the playoffs with a win against the Bears (7-9), whom they defeated 38-20 in Week 1, it will surely add to the Pro Bowl's laughing stock. 

The Packers aren't the only team that can do just that this week, but they are certainly the best equipped with their shocking zero Pro Bowl selections.
