Why Steelers defense is set for another big game in Week 4

The Steelers defense has been playing lights out through the first three weeks of the season. Here are three reasons why they are set up to have another dominant performance against the Texans in Week 4.

Houston, we have a problem

The Texans offensive line may be the most injured group in the entire NFL and their latest injury report supports that. According to insider Aaron Wilson, left tackle Josh Jones is expected to miss the game against Pittsburgh due to a hand injury. Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil remains sidelined with a lingering knee injury as well.

It certainly doesn't bode well for Houston with the Steelers defense coming to town. Over the past two weeks, Pittsburgh's defense has 10 sacks, seven takeaways and two touchdowns. If the Texans can't figure out the right formula for their offensive line, it could be a long day for them.

A first time for everything

Entering Week 3, the Raiders hadn't allowed a sack. The Steelers defense followed up by bringing down QB Jimmy Garoppolo four times. Now heading into Week 4, QB CJ Stroud has yet to throw his first interception, which likely has Pittsburgh's defense licking its chops.

The Steelers had three interceptions a week ago with CB Levi Wallace snagging two and CB Patrick Peterson getting his first in the black and yellow. With that performance, Pittsburgh has the third-most interceptions on the season and surely wants to continue rising in the rankings.

Watt a start

LB T.J. Watt is off to an unprecedented start to the season, becoming the first player in NFL history to record six sacks and have a defensive touchdown in a team's first three games of a season, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year has already begun making the case for his second such award as he is on pace for 34 sacks in 2023. Of course, that is unlikely to happen, but the 28-year-old tied Michael Strahan's single-season sack record (22.5) just a couple of years ago and may just break it this season.
