Will Steelers' newest LB be a Week 1 starter?

The Steelers completely rebuilt their inside linebacker room this offseason but who the starters will be Week 1 is still yet to be known. Could their newest addition find his way into the starting lineup?

Pittsburgh signed LB Kwon Alexander to a one-year deal in July after visiting the team in May.

He seems to be the final addition to a room, barring any injuries, that now includes Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, Nick Kwiatkoski, Tanner Muse and Mark Robinson.

Before Alexander joined the Steelers, it seemed that Holcomb and Roberts were the clear starters. But Alexander's athleticism, which Pittsburgh was lacking, makes things a little more interesting.

All three will see the field this season now that the Steelers can specialize their inside linebacker play on obvious run and pass downs. However, if Alexander can stay healthy, it will be tough to keep him off the field.

Holcomb can do a little bit of everything, and he received the biggest contract of the group this offseason. Likely, he'll be out there the most wearing the green dot, which means it will be a competition between Alexander and Roberts.

However, Roberts isn't worried about the addition of Alexander, saying Pittsburgh will need everybody.

"I feel like every guy in this inside linebacker room brings some different together as a group. It's about coming together and working those styles together," Roberts said. "It's a 17-week season and we're gonna need everybody."

Either way, it will certainly be a battle to watch the rest of the way. Each player gets to make their first case on Friday when the Steelers take on the Buccaneers in preseason action.
