The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made some team-changing moves this offseason. They informed some of their key veterans they would not return to the team for the 2025 CFL campaign.
The two biggest names that won’t be in blue and gold for the upcoming 2025 season are linebacker Adam Bighill and wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky. On Saturday, the Bombers announced that one key player will return.
Following many conversations after the 2024 season, during which young star receiver Dalton Schoen was kept out due to a difficult injury, it has now been confirmed that he has been extended through the 2025 season.
Schoen played in just three games in the 2024 season, earning himself 159 yards on 14 receptions, but did not score a touchdown. He missed the rest of the 2024 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury during a Week 3 loss to the BC Lions.
The 28-year-old receiver has shown that he is a star, though. He reached the 1,000-yard plateau in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, accumulating 2,663 yards on 141 receptions for 26 touchdowns in his first two seasons. He would also be named an All-CFLer in both seasons.
The young receiver will look to help the Bombers return to the Grey Cup in 2025, as they are set to host the big game this season. Winnipeg will begin their quest for glory against the BC Lions on June 12.
