Wisconsin football alumnus Zach Baun is not yet finished with his incredible 2024 season. After joining the Philadelphia Eagles and moving from outside linebacker to the interior, Baun has put together a historic campaign.

In Madison, the Brown Deer, Wisconsin native was the first consensus first-team All-American linebacker in the history of Badgers football. After the position change in Philadelphia, the former Badgers football captain led the Eagles with 150 tackles, forced the second-most fumbles among NFL linebackers, and was a Defensive Player of the Year finalist.

Baun was not finished after his regular season success. In the first half of the Super Bowl, the 2019 consensus first-team All-Big Ten honoree made an impact play to all but slam the door shut on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Backed up deep in Kansas City territory, Mahomes dropped back to pass over the middle of the field. Anticipating the play, Baun made a diving attempt on the ball and intercepted the three-time Super Bowl MVP.

Two plays later, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with wide receiver AJ Brown for a 12-yard touchdown pass. The ensuing extra point by kicker Jake Elliott gave Philadelphia a 24-0 lead it carried into the locker room at halftime.

According to a Wisconsin football spokesperson , Baun is the second Badger ever to pick off a pass in the Super Bowl. He joined Nate Odomes, who grabbed an INT in Super Bowl XXVIII for the Buffalo Bills.
