WR Reggie Roberson Jr. Standing Out at Tennessee Titans Training Camp
USA TODAY Sports

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans expected to get some major help at wide receiver when they signed DeAndre Hopkins, but they may get some unexpected help in the form of second-year wide receiver Reggie Roberson Jr.

Heading into his second season out of Southern Methodist, Roberson has yet to take a snap in an NFL game. He spent training camp with the Titans in 2022 before being cut after camp and signing with the Chicago Bears' practice squad.

Roberson returned to the Titans' practice squad in November and has been with the team since. Now in his second training camp, he is starting to make his mark. Roberson has flashed the last two practices, catching multiple deep balls and scoring touchdowns.

On Monday, Roberson Jr. caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Will Levis and one of them was in some tight traffic. Speed is the name of Roberson Jr's game, so if he can add a physical element to go with it, he has a great chance to stick with the Titans or, at minimum, in the NFL period.

Tuesday, Roberson Jr. flashed some more. Roberson Jr. caught consecutive passes from Levis, the first on a deep ball down the field and the second in the back of the end zone for a score. He followed it up with a few more nice catches later in the day.

There is definitely an opportunity on this roster for a young wide receiver to latch on and Roberson Jr. could fit that bill. Mike Vrabel even discussed Roberson Jr's performance the last two days after practice.

"Roby(Roberson Jr.) was really progressing well in training camp last year and (we) brought him back," Vrabel detailed. "I think he's able to play faster and know what's going on and understand route detail versus certain coverages. It seems like he's able to play closer to his timed speed, which is what we are trying to get from everybody."

With all of the deep catches we are hearing about from Roberson Jr. in practice, sounds like he is getting closer to full speed everyday. If he hits it consistently, the Titans could have found a young deep-threat to develop at the end of the depth chart.
