WR Tyreek Hill Uncertain To Play In 2026

There has been no report on Tyreek Hill since the end of May, at which time we heard the free agent wideout may not be ready to play until the middle of the upcoming season. Bleacher Report’s James Palmer is even less optimistic.

According to Palmer (video link), there is no guarantee Hill suits up at all in 2026, calling the notion “wishful thinking.” Clubs are monitoring the situation, of course, but Palmer says the severity of the injury that ended Hill’s 2025 season in Week 4 – which included multiple torn knee ligaments, including his ACL, and a knee dislocation – and all of the medical hurdles stemming therefrom have cast doubt on his ‘26 availability.

Shortly after the injury, Hill himself appeared to suggest retirement was an option, though he later indicated he wants to continue his playing career. In his brief segment on Hill, Palmer focuses exclusively on how Hill’s health is impacting his prospects, but there is another off-field matter that could give teams pause as well.

Hill’s ex-wife, Keeta Vaccaro, has accused Hill of eight separate domestic violence acts. We learned back in December the NFL had begun investigating Vaccaro’s claims, and while there has been no update in that regard, a suspension remains a possibility.

The injury and domestic violence allegation have rendered Hill’s market “tepid” to this point. If Hill is able to make a midseason return this year, Palmer wonders (as others have) if a reunion with the Chiefs is a possibility, though there has been nothing other than speculation connecting KC to Hill as of yet.

The rebuilding Dolphins, who acquired Hill in a blockbuster trade with the Chiefs in 2022, were likely to release him this offseason even if he had not gotten hurt or found himself embroiled in another non-football-related predicament. Miami followed through with the transaction in February, sending Hill to the open market for the first time in his career.

It presently sounds as if he may stay there until 2027, which would be his age-33 season. However, it would not be surprising to see his name crop up on PFR pages well before then, as his talents and accomplishments will make him appealing to any number of WR-needy clubs who could just be waiting to see if he will be medically cleared in time to bolster their 2026 roster.
