Yannick Ngakoue wants out of Jacksonville, and the star defensive end appears to be going to great lengths to get the Jaguars to grant him his wish.
Right around the time a report surfaced on Monday that the Jaguars have received no trade offers for Ngakoue, the 25-year-old took to Twitter to say he is “tired of the back and forth ” and tell the team to set him free. Ngakoue then got into it with Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s son Tony, who is part of the team’s front office. Ngakoue accused Tony Khan of hiding from the situation and called him “spoiled.”
Here’s the exchange:
@TonyKhan stop hiding moe.

I’m not in hiding sir, I’m in isolation getting ready for the draft. I’ve been pretty active on social media in isolation, but you wouldn’t know that since you unfollowed me (again).

Since your feeling might today let’s both let the world in on the truth. We been had a discussion that the chargers game was my last game. Yet you try to back door the situation without answering any of my camps calls. Smh you spoiled bra.. holding up people for no reason
— Yannick Ngakoue (@YannickNgakoue) April 20, 2020
It’s a new regime here sir. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the contributions you made here. That said, tweeting insults at me won’t get you traded any faster. Only good trade compensation will do that. Please redirect your efforts into a more productive outlet
— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) April 20, 2020
Just trade me . I don’t need the speech
— Yannick Ngakoue (@YannickNgakoue) April 20, 2020
Show me the compensation. I’m sure you’re really driving up the price today btw.

Ngakoue has made it clear he has no interest in remaining with Jacksonville, but that didn’t stop the team from placing the franchise tag on him. The Jags are now looking to trade him, but teams don’t want to give up much for a player whom they will need to sign to a massive extension once they acquire him.
Jacksonville has had one of the best defensive lines in football over the past three seasons, and Ngakoue’s presence has been a big reason for that. The former third-round pick recorded eight sacks last season and has 37.5 through his first four years in the NFL. However, the Jags appear to be intent on rebuilding their defense with cheaper options, as they have already traded away defensive tackle Calais Campbell and top cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye.
In addition to shopping Ngakoue, the Jaguars also appear to be having some issues trying to trade another star player. Khan and the rest of the team’s executives have a lot on their plates, but Ngakoue wants his situation resolved as soon as possible.
