'You gotta grow up,' Jets CB Sauce Gardner SOUNDS OFF on Asante Samuel Sr. over the veteran’s All-Pro criticisms
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

On Friday, the NFL announced its first and second-team All-Pro squads for the 2023 regular season. Despite a down year, the New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner received his second All-Pro nod of his career, which apparently didn’t amuse the former New England Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel Sr.

After the All-Pro teams were announced former Patriots cornerback claimed a defensive back needs to have an interception to be named in the All-Pro squad. Gardner — who didn’t register a single interception — took offense to his remark.

I'm mad I gotta give you the attention you been wanting for 2 years now... BUT this why you can't call anybody an "OG". OG's make sho they support the younger generation, but you actin' like a oldhead filled with hatred bro. I get you 43 and all, but you gotta grow up fam.. Gardner wrote

This is not the first time Gardner has beefed with Samuel. The former Patriots cornerback has criticized the Jets defensive back in the past, insinuating Gardner is being overrated by the New York media. Samuel insisted that the Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. is just as good as Gardner and deserves the same kind of credit.

Sauce Gardner became the first cornerback since the 1970 merger to be named to the first-team All-Pro squad in his first two seasons. On the other hand, Stingley hasn’t been even to the Pro Bowl yet. That’s not to say Stingley isn’t as talented as Gardner, but the Jets QB is just on a whole another level. But, Asante Samuel Sr. continuously refuses to buy into the hype.

Sauce Gardner continues beef with Asante Samuel Sr.

Following Sauce Gardner’s rebuttal on social media, the former Patriots defender Asante Samuel Sr. implied that Gardner is mistaken and he doesn’t care about the Jets cornerback at all.

Gardner again clarified that he is not mistaken and Samuel has been going after him every time he wins something. Both Gardner and Samuel shared multiple tweets clarifying their stance.

Ian yo homebody . And attention gotta be what you lookin for because EVERYTIME I get an accolade, you sub-tweeting. I'm not confused at all, I'm always in my right mind before I do/say anything. Gardner wrote

Nonetheless, Sauce Gardner cornerback just finished another great individual campaign. But he failed to help his team clinch a playoff spot. The Jets franchise is back to the drawing board trying to put together a good team for their 2024 season.
