Zac Taylor gave a training camp update on Monday morning with Cincinnati overcoming a few minor injuries to start camp so far.
Guard Lucas Patrick, cornerback Marco Wilson, and a couple others are a bit dinged up. Patrick did not practice on Sunday and had a sleeve on his right calf. Taylor noted on Sunday those two are being monitored on a day-to-day basis.
Cincinnati did add Shemar Stewart to the fold on the flip side. The rookie got double-digit reps on his first day and should continue slotting into the edge rushing rotation.
"It's a feel thing," Taylor said about the practice plan for Stewart. "We just got to feel all the way through practice with him. When you're just in the second day, he's here practicing, having not done anything with us. We'll be cautious of it. And maybe he'll get a play in a period and take a break. Maybe he'll get two, maybe he'll get three. I trust Jerry [Montgomery] on that. They got a better vision on how practice is going individually. They're on that far field individual. So there's a lot of things I don't see as the course of practice goes. And I trust Jerry to make good decisions on how to utilize these guys as we start to integrate them back in."
Cincinnati has five practices this week as the action continues and Taylor said Stewart could play in next Thursday's preseason game.
