Zaire Franklin Traded To Green Bay Packers In Marquee Deal With Indianapolis Colts

He also posted a career-high 179 the season before that, which was second-best in the league. He’s been a tackle machine for four straight years, logging 100+ stops in each of those seasons without fail.

Franklin brings 88 games of starting experience to a Packers linebacker room that desperately needs a foundation. With Quay Walker set to hit free agency, Green Bay could have been in a real mess at the position heading into the 2026 season. Instead, Matt LaFleur’s defense now has a proven, battle-tested starter walking through the door before the first domino of free agency even falls.

What Franklin’s Track Record Tells You

Some players put up big tackle numbers because they’re in the right scheme at the right time. Franklin isn’t one of them. The former seventh-round pick out of Syracuse has earned every rep he’s gotten in Indianapolis. Undrafted talent gets cut. Seventh-round picks become practice squad fodder.
