A comprehensive round-up across the interwebs of who the LA Kings might take with the No. 19 overall pick in the first round.

NHL.com’s Mock Draft

NHL.com writers Adam Kimelman and Mike G. Morreale predict the entire first round. Here’s who they have the Kings taking at No. 19.

Kimelman: Marco Kasper, C

Kasper’s athleticism, skating and offensive ability stood out against older competition in the Swedish Hockey League. The possibility of adding him to a forward group that includes Quinton Byfield and Alex Turcotte would set the Kings up nicely down the middle for their post-Anze Kopitar era.

Morreale: Jimmy Snuggerud, RW

The Kings could use a few top-tier wings in the pipeline and Snuggerud fits the profile. Committed to the University of Minnesota next season, he was second on the NTDP with seven power-play goals and had a goal and a game-high seven shots on net at the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game. His ceiling is high because he has all the elements for a long, successful NHL career.

Bleacher Report’s Mock Draft

Richardson: Isaac Howard, LW

Howard could become a good fit here. Daily Faceoff’s Peters singled out his quick, deceptive hand and foot speed, which make him difficult to defend. He also praised his advanced hockey sense and timing.

Committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth next season, Howard will benefit from seeing action in the NCAA. He could be ready to make the jump to the Kings within the next two or three years.

The Athletic’s Mock Draft

Wheeler: Brad Lambert, C/RW

There is no prospect pool in the sport that is as crowded as the Kings’ is and it’s entering a phase in the next couple of years where there aren’t going to be enough jobs to fulfil the demands of promotions out of the pool, leaving deserving prospects out of the NHL and likely necessitating trades. That puts them in the perfect position to take a cut on a player. They don’t have to worry about readiness. They don’t have to worry about positional need. They just get to take a swing. They haven’t shied away from taking cuts on polarizing prospects in the past, either. If I’m a member of the Kings’ staff, my list starts and ends with Lambert, Yurov and Ivan Miroshnichenko here, with the Finn as the more likely pick over the Russians given the uncertainty around Yurov getting over here and Miroshnichenko’s health.

Pronman: Rutger McGroarty, LW

The Kings have a deep farm system so there’s no clear positional need here. McGroarty would be seen in the discussion as best player available here especially after his great end to the season. I could see [Jiri] Kulich here too.

Recruit Scouting’s Mock Draft

Foley: Denton Mateychuk, LHD

Denton Mateychuk is an incredibly divisive player in the public scouting world. I personally have him locked-in at 12th overall, thinking his two-way prowess will develop nicely in the next steps, but many think his lack of any one dominant area confines him more to the 20s. That same skepticism, and those same debates, are also being had at the NHL-level. I’ve heard a variety of things from the private world surrounding Denton Mateychuk. Some say that he has a bid at the top-17 while others say he could be one of the bigger fallers, especially when compared to his other WHL counterparts.

The Hockey Writer’s Mock Draft

Stanovich: Lian Bichsel, LHD

The Kings are in need of a big, left-shot defenseman in their pipeline, and they get that player in Lian Bichsel. The 6-foot-5, Swiss defensemen put together an impressive season in Sweden and checks a lot of boxes for the Kings. A physically imposing player with decent mobility for his size, a good first pass, and a booming shot from the point. I was picking between Bichsel and Owen Pickering for this spot, but Bichsel’s added physicality gave him the edge. He has genuine top-four potential and would fit perfectly on the Kings’ blue line.

Draft Utopia’s Mock Draft

Ransom: Isaac Howard, LW

Isaac Howard has the has the playmaking, sniping, passing, wrist shot power, wrist shot accuracy, slap shot power, slap shot accuracy, offensive awareness, hockey IQ, speed, skating, agility, and stick handling. Isaac Howard got a hat trick for USA in an international game against Finland. He’s got a hockey scholarship to Minnesota-Duluth starting in 2022-2023.

Montreal Hockey Now’s Mock Draft

D’Amico: Ivan Miroshnichenko, LW

He is able to attack open ice quickly and make solid plays with the puck to create open ice for his teammates. He’s really got a knack for knowing where his teammates are on the ice and being able to thread the needle with a laser pass right on the tape. With the Kings already boasting a deep prospect pool, they can afford to be patient.

Smaht Scouting’s Mock Draft

Tessler: Isaac Howard: LW

Howard has a lot of the fundamentals that I love and cherish. His speed is excellent and he can play a high-tempo competitive game, especially behind the red line and the corners. In addition, he does a great job of finding open ice in the slot and keeps himself well aligned with puck movement.
