Team Sweden has revealed their roster for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics games. This is the first time that NHL players will be at an Olympic tournament since the 2014 Sochi games. Like with all the other nations competing in the tournament, the first six players had already been named prior to the beginning of the season. For Sweden those named already were, Rasmus Dahlin, Victor Hedman, Adrian Kempe, Gabriel Landeskog, William Nylander, and Lucas Raymond.

While many consider Jacob Markstrom to be the number one heading into the tournament, questions have been raised. Minnesota’s tandem of Gustavsson and Wallstedt have been performing at elite levels this season, and you couldn’t go wrong with this choice. For Ottawa Senator fans, it is a bit disappointing not to see Linus Ullmark’s name. On the flip side, this allows him to focus on what he needs to, at this time.
The top defensive pairing is without a doubt one of Dahlin and Hedman on the backend. Rasmus Andersson has been one of the lone bright spots on the Flames, although recently finding themselves just three points out of a playoff spot. Andersson’s play is a key reason for that and a lock to be involved in the Swedish process.
Gabriel Landeskog’s comeback after being away from the game for so long is something to be admired. After missing three full seasons due to injury and return and look like he did before the injury is nothing short of miraculous.
Among the forwards not going for the Swedes, it is confirmed that Vegas Golden Knights star William Karlsson will be unavailable due to injury. A massive blow given that Karlsson has been one of the best Swedish goal scorers of the past decade.
Sweden is looking for its third Olympic gold medal, with their most recent being in 2006, in Turin, Italy. It was the year that Canada, controversially, elected to keep Sidney Crosby and Patrice Bergeron off the roster. Currently they are third highest favourites to win.
