Former New Jersey Devils forward Tomas Tatar, who just completed his 2nd tour of duty with the club, is returning overseas and has signed a 2 year deal with EV Zug in Switzerland.

For now, it looks like the NHL career of Tomas Tatar has come to a close.

A veteran of 927 career NHL games, Tatar is going back overseas and has signed a 2-year deal with EV Zug in Switzerland.

Zug GM Reto Kläy indicated that Tatar will be deployed at the center position for his new team.

With his enormous experience from almost 1000 NHL games and his game intelligence, he is an important reinforcement for us at center. In recent years, Tomá has regularly played on the wing. With us, he will be used as a center.

Weeks ago, Kläy said that Tatar was a player that the club was interested in signing, a goal that they were able to eventually fulfill.

I will not go into individual names in detail - there is a list of 20 to 30 players - and he is one of them.

Tatar, who began his career with the Detroit Red Wings, played several years in Detroit before being traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2018; he later played that year in the Stanley Cup Final for the Golden Knights against the Washington Capitals.

He then played for the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils; Tatar also had brief stints with the Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche before returning to the Devils last summer.

But his offensive numbers dried up this year, scoring only 17 points (7G, 10A) in 74 games. He also had no points in 4 postseason games for the Devils, as they were eliminated by the Carolina Hurricanes.
