Rangers defenseman Adam Fox and his agent are being exposed by former Carolina Hurricanes GM Don Waddell, for dishonesty on the 'Cam & Strick' podcast.

New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox was set to begin his NHL career with the Calgary Flames, who took him in the 3rd round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. But with little to no chance that he would sign with the Flames, his rights were traded to the Carolina Hurricanes for Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanafin.

Now, former Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell is exposing Fox and his agent for dishonesty. In his words, Fox had committed to signing with the Hurricanes, but later changed his mind.

Waddell made a guest appearance on 'The Cam & Strick' podcast and explained that Fox and his agent changed their minds about signing with the Hurricanes and instead demanded only for him to play with the Rangers.

It's not quite what we were told. We met on the Draft floor that day with Calgary and we knew that we could make a trade and met with the agent. And he said, 'I we trade for him, he'll absolutely sign with us.' And so obviously, we traded Noah Hanafin and (Elias) Lindholm. But 2 weeks later, the agent called and said that, 'We changed our mind, we don't want to sign, we want to go with the Rangers.' So yeah, you remember those things for sure.

This year with the Rangers, Fox had 61 points (10G, 51A), his lowest point output since his rookie year in which he played only 55 games in the COVID-shortened season.

Adam Fox won the Norris Trophy in 2021

Adam Fox became just the 2nd defenseman in NHL history to capture the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman before his 3rd year in the NHL.

The only other player to do so was Bobby Orr, one of the best players to have suited up in the NHL.

Fox has been with the Rangers since the start of his playing career, and he signed a long-term extension with them. But Hurricanes fans are right to be wondering how circumstances would have been different if he'd kept his commitment that he allegedly made to former GM Don Waddell.
