AHL: Calder Cup Champion Toronto Marlies Sign Seven

The defending Calder Cup Champions had an active day as they signed seven players today. Two of those seven were re-signings. They re-signed defenseman Sam Stevens and goalie Ken Appleby. They signed forwards Ross Mitton, Sawyer Bolton, and Matt Copponi, defenseman Ben Meehan, and Matt Anderson.

Stevens did not record a point in four games with the Marlies. In 47 games with Cincinnati in the ECHL, he had 43 points on 15 goals and 28 assists. Appleby, in two games for the Marlies, went 1-1-0 with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. In 42 games for Cincinnati, he went 23-16-1 with a 2.92 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and a shutout.

Mitton, in 49 games for the Railers, had 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. Bolton, in 16 games for Lehigh Valley, had an assist. In six games for Reading, he had one goal. Copponi, in 29 games for Bakersfield, had two goals and an assist. In 40 games with Fort Wayne in the ECHL, he had ten goals and 19 assists. Meehan played in five games with the Phantoms but was held pointless. In 69 games with Reading, he had 12 goals and 34 assists. Anderson, in 22 games for Idaho, had a goal and ten assists.
