The Coachella Valley Firebirds last night re-signed defenseman Charlie Wright. This morning, it was announced that forward Luke Henman is heading overseas for the 2025-26 season. Henman will play for Ilves of Liiga. In 59 games this past season, he had 16 points on six goals and ten assists. He was a minus-three with a game-winning goal and 15 penalty minutes. In six Calder Cup Playoff games, he had an assist. He was a plus-two with four penalty minutes.

Luke Henman

The Carolina Hurricanes drafted Henman 96th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Before being drafted, he spent five seasons with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL. In 225 games, he had 214 points on 63 goals and 151 assists. He was a +23 with 97 penalty minutes. He then joined the Hurricanes organization in 2021-22. Henman played for the Allen Americans of the ECHL, appearing in three games, recording six points on four goals and two assists. He was a plus-four with a shorthanded goal. He also played in 50 games for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Henman had 14 points on six goals and eight assists. He was a plus-ten with a game-winning goal and 32 penalty minutes.

He then spent the next three seasons with the Firebirds. In 171 games, he had 45 points on 20 goals and 25 assists. He was a +13 with four game-winning goals and 85 penalty minutes. In his AHL tenure, he played in 221 games, recording 59 points on 26 goals and 33 assists. He was a +23 with five game-winning goals and 117 penalty minutes. In 35 Calder Cup Playoff games, he had ten points on three goals and seven assists. He was a plus-six with 14 penalty minutes.
