After a pair of recalls on defence from the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba Moose recalled Ben Zloty from the Norfolk Admirals for additional defensive depth.
The Moose are currently without Isaak Phillips and Elias Salomonsson, as they were both called up to the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets are dealing with three injuries to their defensive unit, prompting the need for recalls within the organization.
Zloty, 23, has 24 points (4G, 20A) in 29 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season. He is set to represent Norfolk at the 2026 ECHL All-Star Classic.
The 6-foot defenseman suited up in four games for the Manitoba Moose in 2024-25, posting just one assist in that time. He posted 34 points (6G, 28A) in 41 games for Norfolk last season. Zloty added four points (1G, 3A) in 11 ECHL postseason contests for Norfolk.
Before turning pro, Zloty suited up in the Western Hockey League for the Winnipeg Ice from the 2018-19 season (when they were in Kootenay) all the way until 2022-23. The two-way defender posted 189 points (26G, 163A) in 207 games, all with the Ice. Zloty also played parts of two seasons with the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
He got his start in professional hockey after being dominant at the junior hockey level with the Dallas Stars franchise. He played the 2023-24 season with the Idaho Steelheads, the Texas Stars’ ECHL affiliate, before joining the Winnipeg Jets franchise on an AHL contract as a free agent.
Zloty provides depth to a Moose squad that will rely on their depth against the Laval Rocket to wrap up their current road trip. It is unclear if Zloty will make his Moose season debut on the road or begin the Moose’s upcoming home stretch.
